Watton United 0, Wroxham Reserves 6
Gleave & Associates Anglian Combination Premier Division Saturday 6th February 2010
Referee : Paul Burnham (Wymondham) Wroxham started brightly after a long lay-off; Ollie King tounded the keeper in the 4th minute and looked likely to score but was forced wide and his cross cum shot was headed behind by Watton’s James Brown.
The visitors had an even better chance soon after when James Bulman beat the keeper who was off his line and set up Colin Wines whose shot was cleared off the line by a back tracking defender. Watton though were also competitive and Danny Robinson showed a clean pair of heals to get past Matty Banham and he shot firmly but Phil Smith held on to save.
Wroxham had a lucky escape when Watton got three men forward and had Smith drawn off his line but a shot was delayed allowing David Shade on his debut for Wroxham to clear.
Then a good cross from King found Wines who turned inside on his left foot to open up a clear run on goal but his weak right foot shot was straight at the keeper.
Wroxham took the lead on 15 minutes when a well worked moved saw Ross Durrant slide the ball under the keeper from 12 yards.
Watton replied and Kevin Bloomfield turned sharply to beat Leighton Miller to get in a good shot which was well taken by Smith.
Watton had a let-off when Bulman went round the advancing keeper but shot into the side netting. Mark Allbone and Ross Durrant were both booked for facing up to each other as some tasty tackles went in.
The visitors then had a real let-off when Bloomfield burst through and Smith spread himself to make another good save.
Wroxham eased the pressure with a second goal just before the break. Bulman again got to the byline and crossed for Ollie King to tap in.
HT 0-2
Watton came out for the second half looking to get back in the game and Mark Woods shot narrowly wide. But Wroxham held firm and Bulman broke away to cut in from the left to create a chance but the Watton keeper stood up to make a fine save. However in the next move Bulman from a similar position cleverly lobbed Cruickshank into an empty net to give Wroxham a commanding 3-0 lead.
As Watton heads dropped, Bulman went close twice more as Wroxham looked to increase the lead. Jamie George came on for Ryan Lythgoe and had an immediate effect as he was brought down in the penalty area allowing Ollie King to put away the resulting penalty to make it 4-nil. Wroxham went nap in the 70th minute with an excellent move that was well finished by Colin Wines .
Josh Walsh replaced Ollie King for the last few minutes and was soon in the game. A 6th goal for Wroxham came when a Rikki George cross was perfectly placed for Ross Durrant to head home.
