Details of Wroxham’s opposition for two of the FA’s Cup competitions were released on Friday.
Following Wroxham’s relegation into step 5 of the non-league pyramid, the Yachtsmen are back in the FA Vase this season.
It is a competition that saw Wroxham going all the way to Wembley in May 2010. Unfortunately that step proved to be one too many and the side were well beaten at the home of football. It was still a great day for the club and one all connected with the Yachtsmen are rightly proud.
This season, the Buildbase FA Vase sees Wroxham entering the competition in the 2nd Round Qualifying Stage. A home draw was the result with their opponent being the winners of the tie between Norwich CBS FC (although the FA website still has them listed as Spixworth!) and Ipswich Wanderers. Norwich have a number of ex-Yachtsmen in their ranks including Wembley goalscorer Paul Cook. The tie is scheduled to be played on Saturday 23rd September.
The most famous of Cup competitions was also drawn on Friday and the Yachtsmen enter the Emirates FA Cup at the Extra Preliminary Round this season. The tie, due to be played on Saturday 5th August, sees Wroxham making the trip to Essex Senior League side, Southend Manor. The winners will play either Gorleston or Stanway Rovers at home in the next round.
