Friday night football comes to Trafford Park this week (7,45pm) as Wroxham host a Norfolk derby against Thetford Town. It is the second derby of the season for the Yachtsmen who will be hoping for better rewards than their first when Yarmouth took all three points on their return from Trafford Park last month.
Wroxham go into the game smarting after a crushing defeat at Newmarket last weekend where the Jockeys ran out 5-1 winners. That said, Joint Managers Ross Potter and Tom Parke were not too disappointed as their young side created numerous chances and with better finishing could have been 4-1 ahead at half-time despite falling behind with less than a minute on the watch.
Unfortunately, not only did Wroxham lose heavily but two key players went off injured. Definitely missing will be Craig Bussens who suffered a hand injury that will keep him out for up to 6 weeks. Adam Smith also limped off and is a major doubt.
On a brighter note, Wroxham have included Academy prospect Archie Galley in their matchday squad. The youngster has been in impressive form of late and scored a hat-trick in last Saturday’s Mummery Cup Reserve side victory against UEA. Also, Lewis Wallace is due to link up with the side in the near future following his return from travelling. In the week, Potter and Parke managed to add to the club’s midfield ranks with the signing of former Norwich City Academy player Tom Walters.
Thetford contain a number of faces in their squad who will be familiar with Trafford Park and need no introduction to the home faithful. Their player manager is no less than Danny White who had a couple of spells at Trafford Park. Goalkeeper Kingsley Barnes and youngster Ben Anderson have both turned out for the Brecklanders this season.
