The Drury’s in. Southgate gets top job

Yachtsmen back its crew

JordyWroxham FC has moved quickly to replace the departing management duo Jamie Godbold and Andy Reynolds by appointing from within and elevating reserve team manager Jordan Southgate to the hot seat. The highly rated Southgate, just 25, will be assisted by Norwich City ‘hall of famer’ Adam Drury in his first managerial role. Both coaches recently gained their UEFA B licenses.  The duo is the third managerial partnership in an eventful year at Trafford Park and will hope to continue the transition begun by Tom Parke and Ross Potter and continued by Godbold and Reynolds who have returned to their home town club.

Chairman Lee Robson remains positive about the future of the club and cited all round development  as among the reasons to be cheerful adding “It’s not exactly what I would have wanted to have happened but for Jamie and Andy it was a classic no brainer. As soon as I saw the vacancy at Lowestoft I was apprehensive so started to think about what we would do. Football creates lots of opportunities and we seized this one and I’m excited about what Jordy and Adam can bring to the club. Adam’s record speaks for itself and Jordy is highly rated and mature for one so young! As the adage goes “If you’re good enough, you’re old enough and Jordy’s good enough. However, I don’t really want to be seeing any changes again for a good few years!”Adam-Drury-Drursy-900x512

Southgate, who had to retire from a promising playing career at 21 was also excited at getting a chance so early “I thought I’d have to wait for a couple of years but my plan was to manage the first team at Wroxham. I’ve been with the club for six years and have seen the highs and the lows. My job is to bring the good times back to the club and recreate what makes us a special club to play for and be a part of. We’ve got a new junior and youth structure in place with teams from under 7s to under 15s for the first time ever and a very successful Academy set up. Most of our players are returning after a challenging first year but they are good players and with some additions we can push on, get in the leading pack for the season and continue our progress.
