I think this has been the busiest pre season I can ever remember. I suppose when I played you got couple of months off while the football fairies were busy behind the scenes getting things ready. Now I am a football fairy!
Obviously we have been busy setting up a new Junior section which has been tremendously hard and uncertain. We have some great new teams, helpers and some great new coaches at the club. Many thanks to Jo Pelan the coaches and helpers and Rackheath Parks and Leisure for their help so far.
The EJA teams have already made a difference with an incredible professional approach and some fabulous coaches and administrators. And of course at Youth and senior levels there have been some changes which although enforced have been seen as an opportunity rather than a threat.
I’m obviously delighted that Jordan, Adam and Simon have signed up but equally that we could bring in the calibre of people like Darren (Hunter) David (Frosdick) Alan Wardle and Darren Moss. Then of course join Mark Roe who steps up to reserve team manager after a very successful stint at Under18s.
With our band of club stalwarts we now have 48 people in and around the club being football fairies. Some are invisible. Some are magic. All are important! And. We always need more!
I’m delighted too that we have attracted some more partnerships and especially thank Kingsley Health Care for their continued support for the first team. My Fitness and Nutrition have agreed to support the reserve team and Norada 2018 Restaurant are helping out with the team match day wear. We have an array of sponsors at youth and junior level which I WILL report on separately. Thank you to you all.
You may have also picked up the news that we are reverting to STRIPES. For me it’s the iconic Wroxham look and if it was good enough for all those great players and for Wembley it’s good enough for me .
We’ll be launching the kit on Saturday 11th August at the FA Cup game v Saffron Walden. (ko 3pm)
Finally, the team. We have regrouped (again) and we have really exciting young players allied to a little bit of experience that can help us shape the season in front of us. I genuinely think they are a great bunch with great attitude and great management and it will be important to give them your support over the coming months as they learn and grow in the adult game.
With teams from 5 to senior the future is unwritten (Joe Strummer)
Ahoy! The Yachtsmen. Lee
