Under tricky conditions on a warm, humid night and a dry solid pitch, Wroxham were tested against Kirkley and Pakefield. Early into the game, Wroxham’s Harley Black sent a rocketing 35 yarder against the crossbar. The keeper couldn’t do anything but watch. Kirkley’s Hammond powered a strong header towards the goal but it was cleared off the line by Carey. 10 minutes later, Lappin swung in a corner to find Skipper who again tested the crossbar. Kirkley’s Will drilled the ball into the centre of the Wroxham box only for Howerson to poke it inches wide of the far post. Both teams had good chances but no team could find an early opener; it was a very cagey start for both teams.

Haylock then skipped past two Wroxham defenders to supply Harley-Cooper and his strike was matched with an acrobatic save onto the post by Milligan. The attack continued as Harley-Cooper raced down the wing, his shot parried down to the feet of Haylock who calmly tapped in an opener past a stranded Milligan.

Harley-Cooper featured again for Kirkley as he fired a shot from the edge of the box but Milligan matched it with a great save up to the left. Haylock proved a threat down the left wing as he bombarded the Wroxham defence on a regular basis. Kirkley was in charge of the first half, not letting Wroxham settle. Milligan made another fine save on the stroke of half time, to keep the score at an accessible 1-0 at the break.

The second half began with Kirkley’s Flower sending a testing shot from distance, inches past the right post. Both teams were finding it hard to secure the ball in the final third. It was end to end football, with attacks being broken down and Wroxham were yet to find a equaliser. This was until the 80th minute when a penalty was given for a push on Plumstead. Ex-Norwich City player Simon Lappin calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner to bring the scores level at 1-1. Both teams got to share the spoils.
